  • Let the receptionist know you are visiting Hope Haven, and she will buzz you in.
  • We are in the main fellowship hall on the first floor through the second set of double doors.

We look forward to welcoming you!

For parking please see the map below.

VISITOR & GUEST GUIDE

We call ourselves a social club, and we love visitors. To ensure our club remains a joyful space of connection and dignity, we ask our guests to follow these simple guidelines:

  • Equality & Inclusion: We are a "label-free" zone. Everyone wears matching badges because we are all equal members of the club. To help us maintain this sense of belonging, please treat everyone as a peer and avoid asking who is a volunteer and who is a participant.
  • Focus on the Person, Not the Diagnosis: Our four hours together are a sanctuary for joy and friendship and fun. We focus our conversations on uplifting topics, storytelling, and shared interests. Unless a member chooses to bring up their own journey with dementia, we keep the focus on the person and the activity at hand.
  • Successful Conversations: To make it easy for everyone to join in, try to avoid open-ended questions (like "What did you do this morning?"). Instead, offer "Yes or No" questions or multiple-choice options (like "Do you prefer coffee or tea?"). This helps everyone feel confident and included in the conversation.

GUIDANCE FOR PRESENTERS:

Presentations are always a highlight!! Here are tips to help our members fully engage with your message:

  • Clarity: Use a steady, clear volume and concise language.
  • Visuals: We strongly encourage using photos, slides, or physical props. Engaging multiple senses makes every message more impactful!
  • Tech Support: We have a large TV with a USB connection for your laptop. You may also email files to the Director at savannahrespite@gmail.com a few days in advance to have them pre-loaded.

PARKING

Please refer to the map below.
(Yellow arrows indicate the path our caregivers use to pick-up and drop-off of members)
Parking lot signage implies you need to pay for parking, but it is free while visiting Hope Haven.

We are here to help! If you have any questions before your visit, please reach out to our Director at (912) 231-7310 or via email.  A quick note: During our program hours, our team is fully focused on our members and their activities.
